I lost a tooth... what next?

Did you know that immediately after you lose a tooth, the teeth surrounding the empty socket will begin to shift to "fill the gap"?

Letting this continue even for a brief time can cause serious problems with the alignment of your teeth, which could in turn lead to problems with the temporomandibular joints.

A missing tooth can also cause the opposing tooth (the corresponding tooth in the opposite jaw) to "super erupt". This means that the tooth will grow to try and meet it's missing counterpart, also creating issues with bite alignment.

So, what's next? If you have lost a tooth, talk to Dr. Currie right away.
