Beware the Ad Campaign

The most well-advertised brand of porcelain veneers is not always the best choice for your new smile.

In fact, we strongly recommend that you carefully chose your cosmetic dentist, and then let your dentist select which type of porcelain veneers are right for your unique situation.

It is vitally important that you thoroughly investigate the training and credentials of your cosmetic dentist BEFORE you agree to let them work on you. The American Dental Association has not yet established any restrictions on who can claim they do cosmetic dentistry, so a general dentist with no training whatsoever can claim to do cosmetic work.

Allowing a dentist without experience or training to makeover your smile would be like asking a house painter to paint your portrait. For something this important, you want a trained, experienced professional with demonstrated artistic ability. Your smile should be a work of art.

York PA Porcelain Veneers

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are pieces of porcelain, shaped and colored to look like a natural tooth, that are affixed to the front of your tooth or teeth to improve their appearance. Deceptively thin and delicate looking, most porcelain veneers are exceptionally strong and durable. Even though most veneers are only about a half a millimeter thick, the best results do require some preparation of the tooth surface before placement.

The picture at right is a close up of a porcelain veneer and the prepared tooth—notice that the prepared tooth looks very similar to the natural teeth surrounding it. Only a small amount of tooth material must be shaved from the front of the tooth before veneer placement.

With proper care, the surface of a porcelain veneer resists staining much better than a natural tooth would. Under the care of a trained, experienced expert like Dr. Currie, your porcelain veneers will look absolutely natural, and absolutely beautiful. His artistic ability to achieve the right shape, size, color and translucency for each individual patient make his smile makeovers exceptional. What can porcelain veneers do for you?

  • Straighten crooked teeth: Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as "instant orthodontics", because they can produce a beautiful, straight white smile in a just a few visits, as opposed to the months or years required to straighten teeth with orthodontic work.
  • Restore worn or chipped teeth: Over time, your teeth show the signs of a lifetime of daily use and abuse. Porcelain veneers can erase years off your smile, instantly.
  • Whiten stained teeth: Some stains, such as those caused by childhood use of the antibiotic tetracycline, cannot be removed with teeth whitening procedures. If you have permanently stained or discolored teeth, porcelain veneers are the only way to get a really beautiful smile.
  • Lengthen teeth, or close gaps: If the size or spacing of your teeth is not attractive, porcelain veneers can be used to correct that.

It's never too late to find your smile.

This patient of Dr. Currie's was embarrassed by her teeth, and reluctant to smile. At the urging of her family, she sought the help of Dr. Currie to help her find her smile, and is overjoyed with the results. She looks younger, healthier and most importantly, happier.
