Comfort Dentistry
Our goal is to make your dental experience as comfortable as possible. To help us achieve this along with a caring, friendly attitude we offer the following amenities. Nitrous Oxide gas(commonly called laughing gas) reduces anxiety so you can relax and feel completely comfortable during your treatment. DMX Digital Music is available through headphones in each treatment room. A wide variety of custom music selections are available for you to choose to aid in making your visit a pleasant one. Warmed neck and back pillows and heated towelletes compliment the superior care and service we try to provide.
Computer Imaging System
This technology allows the patient to see before and simulated after photos of any proposed smile enhancing procedures. Using digital photography and then computer generated images shown on a computer monitor, you can see what your smile would look like if teeth were whitened, straightened, if spaces were closed or any other improvements desired. Computer imaging allows patients to preview in advance what cosmetic procedure might look like in their own mouth.
DIAGNODENT System
The Diagnodent is a laser system that detects cavities with much greater precision and certainty particularly in the tiny grooves of our back teeth. Traditional methods of detecting these cavities has been shown to be variable and very inaccurate. In the past, small cavities would have been undetectable until they caused considerable damage to the tooth. Even worse, some teeth had fillings placed that werent really necessary.
With the Diagnodent, we get an accurate diagnosis of whether decay is present and how active the decay process is. With this information we can either monitor any suspicious areas or, if necessary, treat teeth conservatively using modern day bonding techniques.
Digital X-rays
Digital x-rays are a modern alternative to old fashioned x-rays. These are a computer-based system producing virtually instant pictures of excellent quality on the computer monitor. The image is large and can be manipulated in a variety of ways. This aids in offering a better diagnosis which can result in better treatment outcomes. They are also useful in helping our patient better understand their dental situation. Most importantly, digital x-rays greatly reduce the amount of radiation emitted, exposing you to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays.
Diode Laser System/Opus 5
A laser is a precise beam of concentrated light energy that has a variety of applications in dentistry. Dr. Currie and his staff are well-trained in the use of this laser system for the following:
- esthetic soft tissue procedures
- oral microsurgery
- periodontal treatments
- treatment of painful reoccurring mouth ulcers
- tooth whitening
Laser treatments are less painful than traditional dental techniques and can often be done with minimal to no anesthesia. In addition the procedures are safe, take less time and allow for a shorter healing times. The use of a soft tissue laser is indespensible for providing excellent cosmetic dentistry.
When we expect to offer our patients the very best in smile design and aesthetic dental care, there is simply no substitute for the use of a Diode laser for soft tissue recontouring. This is a must have instrument
David Hornbrook DDS, FAACD Founder & Director The Hornbrook Group
The soft tissue architecture is as important to the aesthetics of a smile as the teeth. The Diode laser is a must for the aesthetic practice
William Dickerson DDS, FAACD Founder & CEO of The Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
Intra Oral Camera
Smile and Open Wide youre on TV. Advances in dentistry have led to the development of very small video cameras for use in the dental office. Using a camera about the size of a pen, we can take pictures inside the mouth and display them on the monitor 10-40 times their natural size! This technology allows you to see exactly what the dentist or hygienist sees and aids in better diagnosis and communication. We feel strongly that this helps our patients make educated decisions regarding any proposed dental treatment.
Multimedia Patient Education
To help our patients become better informed about dental treatments we use two multimedia patient education programs, Caesy and Consult-Pro. Using language that is easily understood, along with outstanding photographs and graphics, these programs allow us to display information about any dental subject using a TV or computer monitor. We feel that this helps our patients to become better informed about their dental treatment and the alternatives that are available to them in modern day dentistry.
