I was told that Invisalign won’t fix misaligned teeth. I admit I have buck teeth. But they aren’t that bad. I thought all the hype around Invisalign was that it was a replacement to braces. Please help me understand.

It is hard to say why the dentist you met with is stating that Invisalign will not correct misalignment. That is untrue. Invisalign will correct crooked teeth, gaps, as well as “buck teeth,” as long as the condition isn’t too severe. Now, there are some situations where orthodontics are a better fit, like for a teenager whose teeth haven’t fully erupted. But that is why Invisalign was created, as an alternative to the ugly, metal braces everyone dreads.
This could be an issue with the particular dentist. Maybe he or she isn’t knowledgeable about how Invisalign works. Or maybe the dentist is resistant to change and prefers traditional orthodontics. Sounds like you need a second opinion.
Of course, without having seen your case firsthand it is difficult to say without a doubt that you are an Invisalign candidate. But Invisalign does correct misaligned teeth.
